I’ve worked with Cape York Peninsula Indigenous groups on various language and education projects, specifically those aimed at revitalising Hope Vale’s Guugu Yimidhirr language for generations to come, for a few years now.
Working in close collaboration with Karin Calley, a multi-linguist fluent in the Guugu Yimidhirr language, along with a stellar cast of language contributors, we’ve produced a vast array of learning tools and resources for schools in the Cape York, particularly, Hope Vale school.
While I’d love to be able to present a variety of work we’ve produced to date, due the sensitive nature of the projects, I will only show here a recent children’s picture book we created with Pama Language Centre.
The book is written by Lillian Bowen, a teacher at the school in Hope Vale doing some amazing work at keeping the Guugu Yimidhirr language alive. The illustrations have been created by Karin Calley.
